Are we using available frameworks and tools such as the EU-US Trade and Technology Council to foster cooperation and address key technological developments in scope of AI, IoT and cybersecurity to their full potential? The session will be dedicated to exploring the importance of transatlantic relations for the digital transformation of our region and the current state of CEE - partnership in regard to issues of digital. We wish to look into the ways investments, technological transfer and access to innovative solutions stemming from CEE-USA relations shape the region''s economy and society and consider the potential obstacles in the way of fostering these relations in the context of European regulations or the ongoing war in Ukraine.

HARNESSING THE TECHNOLOGY

Development of digital technologies accelerated to rates unheard of ever before. Innovations such as tools based on artificial intelligence and advanced cloud solutions show great promise for economic and societal growth. However, their adoption and rapid development is bound to come at a cost and put novel problems in front of us. The challenges at hand regard ensuring relevant and sound policymaking aligned with technological progress, preparing the general population to use the new technologies in a responsible, efficient and safe way, as well as issues of insufficient ICT specialist’s workforce and relatively low level of adoption of digital technology amongst SMEs. MOVING FORWARD WITH CONFIDENCE. OVERCOMING CYBERTHREATS

With the alarming, ever-higher number of digital security incidents and coordinated cyberattacks coming over Central Eastern Europe, particularly ever since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, cybersecurity became one of the top priorities both on national, regional and European level. Efforts to improve cybersecurity across Central Eastern Europe include regulatory initiatives as well as deeper private-public cooperation. Assuring cybersecurity and resilience, however, proves to be a difficult task, not just due to the sheer number of attacks but also due to the need to develop the sound regulatory landscape at a fast pace, shortage of experts in the field, and difficulties with striking the balance between international cooperation and sovereignty. Let’s take a deep dive into the CEE’s strategy for cybersecurity.
